Veteran’s Day 2023

We honor our hero Veterans who are no longer with us, including those who are. In their commitment of putting others above self, they have proven their loyalty to this country and its citizens, at the most optimal level. We are so grateful for the sacrifices they have made and words could never justify our feelings towards that end.

AFGE represents well over 100,000 Veterans, TSA employs over 10,000 Veterans, and if you have not served, it is nearly guaranteed that you know or love dearly someone who has served. Every day we have the privileged opportunity to thank and show our appreciation to a Veteran by offering them our assistance in their time of need.

Similarly, if we see a needy Veteran in the street, we should make a valiant effort to engage with them, find out what they need, and provide it, or direct them to a resource which can. These brave men and women swore to protect us—and did—while the rest of us enjoyed the fruits of their labor. We never know a Veteran’s story until we sit down and listen. Make that commitment, to listen, understand, and if possible, act.

Finally, on this Veterans Day, AFGE Council 100 wants to thank all who served, living and passed, including those who continued their public service roles in government and further as leaders in our mighty Union, AFGE. Brothers and sisters, be safe and well, and let us remember our Veteran heroes, not only today but everyday.

With Gratitude,

AFGE Council 100
