President’s Day 2023

Initially, created to celebrate the first President of the United States, George Washington, this day later evolved to consider both Presidents Washington and Abraham Lincoln, who each were celebrated for different reasons. Later, it was determined that all U.S. Presidents, past and present, would be recognized on this day.

While we may all have our favorite presidents for our own reasons, we, as Federal employees within our agency, share a unique relationship with our U.S. Presidents, they were/are our bosses at the highest level in our chain of command in the Executive Branch.

And for all their respective greatness and inspiration, which is subjective to how they are viewed, they, like all of us, are human and imperfect, which means they make mistakes—some worse than others. Yet they have all served and did so at their own peril or success.

Let us celebrate our current President who has committed, and has so far proven, to be the most pro-Labor U.S. President in history. Both private and public sectors have experienced these attributes, and at TSA, we have recently become benefactors of this fact. There is much more work to do, but we’re on our way.

Additionally, regardless of personal party affiliation, let us keep President Jimmy Carter and his family in our thoughts, as he will likely spend the last few days of his life at home in hospice care. He has been a national treasure in his later years, committing much of his life to the helping of his fellow man woman by contributing mightily to the non-profit Habitat for Humanity, for over 35 years.

This year, in his honor, we ask that you commit to volunteer in partnership with a great cause of your choice, so that you too may leave a legacy of giving, as this great humanitarian has done. Thank you to all our U.S. Presidents which have served this great nation!
