Flag Day 2023

In 1949 President Harry Truman signed into law the national observance of June 14th as Flag Day.

The flag itself is more than a symbol. It is the sum and summit of an ideal. An ideal we strive to attain, individually and collectively, every day.

The flag is painted in the colors that never run. It flows with the winds of our land over our cities, towns, states, and Nations Capital. It is what we gaze upon while covering our hearts to take and reaffirm our oath to serve and care for our country. It provides hope, promise of prosperity, and safety to people all over the world. It is also the final blanketing embrace for those that gave their all.

As employees of the United States we took an oath. An oath to not only serve and protect the United States but, more importantly, what the United States is in it’s people and the dreams we all have.

No promise is to be given with reservation. No pledge given reluctantly. It is something to be grateful for to be able to pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. One nation. Indivisible. With liberty and justice for all.
