One-Year Probationary Period for TSO’s

 Dear Administrator Pekoske: 

On behalf of AFGE TSA Council 100, thank you for meeting with our union leadership last Thursday, November 4, 2021. We have found these meetings with you to be productive and fruitful, and we truly appreciate your willingness to work directly with the union on issues most important to the bargaining unit. Your decision during our meeting to reduce the two-year probationary period for Transportation Security Officers (“TSO”) to one year, in particular, was especially welcomed news. This change will immediately and concretely improve the morale and working conditions of your frontline workforce. It is also a clear demonstration of your continued efforts to align the rights of TSOs with those of other federal employees. 

It is with these benefits in mind that we encourage you to implement the one-year probationary period for TSOs as soon as possible. We eagerly anticipate more information on the effective date of this policy change, and we look forward to our next meeting.
