Meet the Executive Board
From 1982 – 2000 I was employed by a private law enforcement company in Brooklyn NY. During this time I also was a Union Representative and member of SEIU 32BJ. In 2002, I applied for TSA as a Screener. With prior Union knowledge I would challenge the agency for unfair labor practices and violations of employees rights.
In December 2007 I was introduced to AFGE and I was offered a position as the Local President of L2222 which covers New York and New Jersey. AFGE was needing the votes of JFK BUE’s to win the rights as the exclusive union for TSA Employees. I assisted in this campaign by recruiting 649 BUE’s in 4 months to give AFGE the win. I have remained the Local President for L2222 ever since.
Over my approximate 37 year career with the Union I have served as a Steward, Secretary/Treasurer and President. This isn’t a hobby, it’s my life and love to fight for people who can’t defend themselves against their employer.
I served as a U.S. Marine from 1977-1981. I have a beautiful wife and we have 4 four daughters and twin sons, we also have three grandchildren.
Mac hails from Raleigh, North Carolina. He is the proud father of one son, Marques, and two daughters, Shaquana and Andrea. He is equally a proud grandfather of three grandsons; Evan, Mehkhi, and Makari, and one granddaughter, Ayla. Upon graduation from Enloe Senior High, Mac enlisted in the United States Army and took Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. His tenure in the U.S. Army afforded him an opportunity to travel throughout the world with tours of duty at Fort Riley, KS; Fort Bragg, NC; Heidelberg, Germany; Fort Ritchie, MD; Yongsan, South Korea; and back to Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Mac held several leadership positions in the U.S. Army such as Platoon Sergeant, Brigade Administrative Non-commissioned Officer, and culminating as a Drill Sergeant.
After serving our country, Mac attended Fayetteville Technical College, majoring in Information Technology Administration. He was nine (9) semester hours short of obtaining his degree when the horrible events of 9/11 occurred. Mac answered the call to duty and dropped out of college and signed on to work for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as a Lead Transportation Security Officer at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Witnessing several injustices against his co-workers, Mac became a dues-paying member of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) in December 2008.
Prior to AFGE becoming the exclusive representative of TSA bargaining unit employees, Mac served as the interim Executive Vice President of AFGE Local 0449. He was elected as President in November 2011 and has held the position since that time. In 2012, Mac was elected Regional Vice President of TSA Region 2, and was re-elected to the position in 2015. He was elected as Executive Vice President, AFGE Council 100 in August 2018. Mac is extremely passionate in representing bargaining unit employees in our great union.
When his schedule permits, Mac enjoys cooking on the grill for his family and friends. His other favorite pastime is conducting genealogy research.
CST Johnny Jones has been with TSA since 2002 and the Council Secretary/Treasurer since August of 2018. CST Jones is also the Treasurer for AFGE Local 1040 since 2014. He and his wife live in Fort Worth, Texas since 2004. He has 4 children: Johnny Jr. (20), Brian (19), Benjamin (12) and Abigail (7). CST Jones his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Tarleton State University. He has been the Tarrant County Labor Council Delegate, is long term focused and continues to help fighting for TSA to gain Title 5 Rights and the General Schedule (GS) pay scale.
