At the end of every year, we look back in wonderment, awe, and sadness, for what the previous year brought or took from us; and at the beginning of every year, we look forward to what the new year has in store for us, never truly knowing which changes may occur, yet knowing change is inevitable. This year, 2023, we have an idea of some positive changes which will be coming to us all. More-so than in any other year, in TSA’s history, we have a small glimpse of our future; a future when we will not be striving to attain but fighting to maintain what we have finally won!
Let us look to the immediate future, prepare for these changes, and get ready to effectuate more positive change than ever before—at TSA. Council 100 will be leading this fight, side-by-side with each Local Union, and where and when possible, with TSA leadership nationally and locally. We are looking to partner with the agency where we can, to become a formidable opponent to those standing in the way of codifying our pay and rights. In instances when the Union and TSA do not agree, we will address our differences, first informally, then formally.
As we realize our new-found position in government, let us take a moment to remember those who came before us, fought for what we have, including many who are still in this fight with us, and be grateful for this long-awaited journey coming to fruition. Again, this fight is not fully complete, we still have a way to go with these rights becoming law, but this is no less a historical time to be a TSA employee, and moreover a Transportation Security Officer. 2023 is a new year, but it is also a new day in the career of so many deserving, dedicated public servants, like you.
Have a Safe and Happy New Year! Do not Drink and Drive (get or become a designated driver)!
