On Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at 8:48 AM EST an American Airlines Boeing 767 crashed into the North tower of the World Trade Center. 18 minutes later United Airlines flight 175 crashed into the South tower. At 9:45 AM EST American Airlines flight 77 crashed into the West side of the Pentagon. Lastly, at 10:10 AM EST United Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania where the brave passengers fought to stop the terrorists that have taken over their plane.
On November 19, 2001 President George W. Bush signed into law the Aviation Transportation Security Act (ATSA) that created the Transportation Security Administration.
After a long campaign AFGE won the vote of the TSA bargaining unit employees (BUE's) to become the exclusive representative for TSA.
After AFGE became the exclusive representative for TSA the newly formed Council 100 went to work negotiating the first Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) on the behalf of BUE's nationwide.
A second time the TSA Council 100 went to the bargaining table with TSA Management and was successful in ratifying the second AFGE-TSA CBA!
After fighting the uphill battle against an administration that was succeeding in taking away so many rights and benefits from the TSA workforce, TSA Council 100 was still successful in ratifying a 3rd CBA for the TSA workforce.
With the collective efforts of AFGE members, Council 100 and AFGE National, TSA workers were finally granted limited MSPB rights for adverse actions charged against the TSA BUE's.
